I have a few years of experience working with writing groups and as a beta reader for other authors.

In addition to my background in fiction, I have a degree in education and experience asking questions and helping writers find their voice.

I am happy to provide a sample edit and discuss your editing needs to negotiate a price.

Copyediting and Line Edits

Line Edits look at paragraph and sentence flow. Are you using too many repetitive words? Or is the repetition working for you?

Copyediting looks at grammar and punctuation.

These edits can be combined.

Free sample edits are available for longer projects, and we can negotiate a rate once we've discussed the project's scope.

I have a degree in education. I taught grammar and punctuation. I have also become a scholar of the Chicago Manual of Style.

Recap of Rates

Content Projects over 500 words will require a deposit of at least 50% of the total fees. The rest of the fees will be due upon completion.

For content that requires research and cited sources, I charge 10 cents per word

For content that doesn't require research, I typically charge 8 cents per word.

Alternatively, you may choose to pay a negotiated hourly rate that covers research, writing, and self-editing.

Editing Projects over 10,000 words will require a deposit of at least 50% of the total fees. The rest will be due upon completion.

Developmental Editing fiction/narrative is 3 cents per word.

Developmental Editing non-fiction is 6 cents per word.

Copyediting for fiction is 2-4 cents per word depending on the severity of the errors and whether or not I am also doing line edits.

Copyediting for nonfiction is 3-4 cents per word depending on the severity of the errors and whether or not I am also doing line edits.

I am also happy to arrange a negotiated hourly rate.
